Should children be forced to live in prison?

For many Bolivian children, this is their reality.

Forced to live in prison alongside their parents, these children have all opportunities for a better life stripped from them. They aren’t given food, water, and not even their own cell unless they pay for it. To make matters worse, older children are often thrown out into the streets at random due to overcrowding - with no means to survive. This is their everyday life. Cold, tired and hungry, these children are left with no hope to cling to…

…save for one beacon of Light.

The Hope Center.

Nestled in the heart of the Andes Mountains stands Centro Boliviano de Esperanza - the Bolivian Hope Center: a three-story structure that over 40 Bolivian children call “home.” Here, they have fresh food, clean water, their own bed, access to education, and best of all - HOPE. Because of BHC, these beautiful children will grow up knowing that they are loved by not only us, but Jesus.

What we provide.

  • Basic Necessities

As for all children, basic needs are imperative to healthy growth & development. Here at BHC, children are fed, clothed, given their own warm bed, and provided for.

  • Education

For Bolivian children, education is fundamental as it paves the way for a better future. We provide this opportunity by transporting them to school, assisting with homework, and providing necessary school supplies.

  • Medical Care

While medical care is limited in Bolivia, we provide the best care available for our children - from checkups, dentist appointments, and major surgeries, we make sure each child is cared for and attended to.

  • Counseling/Therapy

The mental well-being of our children is just as important as the physical. We have counselors on staff who are equipped to walk our children through their pain and we provide further support for cases of severe trauma/abuse.

  • Spiritual Formation/Discipleship

Of the utmost importance is the spiritual condition of our children’s hearts. At BHC, we are intentional in discipleship and strive to exemplify the love of Jesus in every encounter with our children.

  • Next Steps Program

This program prepares the oldest of the kids in our care for life as an adult. Taught by one of our former kids at BHC, this program helps our teens navigate tasks such as budgeting, grocery shopping, cooking, paying rent, etc.
